I'm the modern day house wife. I have no children and no husband, but I do have a really fat cat (not her fault or mine) a wonderful, supportive PNC (partner n crime), lots of fabric, a sewing machine, paints and a computer to keep me really busy. I love to create, garden, lay in the sun (for hours), and I make lattes every morning. In the future, I'd love to have some kiddos to play with my fat cat, I'd love to live in the sunshine and I'd love to make a great living off of being creative. Not too much to ask right?! Deer friendly.

I would of loved to post this project last week but the lighting in my house has been terrible for photos. Today its getting sunnier by the minute. I thought I better take advantage of the light while I have it! Here is one of the projects from my earlier post about the book Dorm Decor. I love my new deer friend above my desk and it was a very easy project. Just make sure your exacto (craft knife) blade is sharp.

I made a few modifications to the deer head instructions becuase I wanted to utilize what I had to make it the most budget friendly deer head. Instead of using paper or wrapping paper, I used some great fabric I've been storing for awhile. For the spray adhesive, the best to use for this project and has the most permanent stick is Spray Mount Supper 77 you can find at most craft and art supply stores. I also painted the backs instead of covering them with the fabric so it was easier to cut out. In the book instructions they used paper on the front and back. I would probably try that next time.

The pattern came with the book that is rather inexpensive on Amazon, most of the time, you can check out the books at the library. How cute would this be as a gift. You could wrap it up flat with a photo of what it should look like and the recipient can assemble the pieces for a fun outcome!

Happy Crafting!

I found this book at a fabric shop in Cap Hill. The deer head is my first project too! I figured I'd try wrapping paper, thinking the fabric might peel over time. (let me know if that's something you come across). Also, I'm tempted to glue the paper onto the foam and THEN cut it all out together. Stay tuned.

This is awesome. My parents wouldn't let me bring any of my real deer antler mounts to college, so this is probably the closest i will ever get to the real thing.
Keep up the good work!!
