I'm the modern day house wife. I have no children and no husband, but I do have a really fat cat (not her fault or mine) a wonderful, supportive PNC (partner n crime), lots of fabric, a sewing machine, paints and a computer to keep me really busy. I love to create, garden, lay in the sun (for hours), and I make lattes every morning. In the future, I'd love to have some kiddos to play with my fat cat, I'd love to live in the sunshine and I'd love to make a great living off of being creative. Not too much to ask right?! Semi moved in.

Since we had the keys to our house in hand we've been, let's just say, very busy.

It was our idea to paint the ENTIRE inside of the house. We started in our room. We were very optimistic about painting the house by hand using rollers and brushes to cut in the ceiling.

Two days later we purchased a commercial paint sprayer.

Dexter taught us a lot about "preparing" a room.

We've gone through rolls and rolls of paper to tape off the floors, 10 or more rolls of masking tape, way too much paint, inhaled way to much paint, rolls of plastic and did I mention we purchased a commercial paint sprayer?

I always say, I never want to paint again. That feeling will last a few weeks until I get the urge to refinish furniture. At least its not cutting in a cathedral ceiling.

The hard work and Casey's irritating attention to detail has paid off. I look at the inside of this house now and it makes me very happy.

We decided to display Casey's surf boards on top of this out cropping that houses our guest bathroom/laundry room, linen closet, coat closet and pantry.

As I'm writing this post I'm a little distracted because the Today show has suddenly switched over to a press conference with our President. I don't want to go into too much detail about my political views but the unemployment rate is very disappointing. There are so many things that bother me about this election, but I'll move on.

Ok, back to the house.

Very happy with the house color, now to the yard. We don't have curtains, a couch, some essential cooking items, because all of our spare time has been in the yard. We have weeds that are taller than Casey. We have ticks. We have snakes, not garter snakes, larger ones. When I came in from the yard to shower there was a tick on my towel.

Saw three of these Bull Snakes in one day.

This is not complaining, just informing. I love being a slave to my yard again. I forget everything else in the world and concentrate on weeds. When I'm able to dig up the tough and deep rooted weeds in the rock hard dirt I feel an enormous sense of accomplishment! Its the little things. LOL:)

The above photo was after some weeding had been done.

Pretty much ready for the starts at this point. Forget seeds this year:)

Feels good to have a garden again.

Looking forward to that chilled bottle of Prosecco in the fridge for tonight:) Have a wonderful pre summer weekend. XOXO.

Okay I was going to comment that I'm excited to come see this all in person...until you showed that photo of the snake. Please tell me that is fake. I'll take the hundreds of slugs we have here over that any day! ;)
The house and garden look great, snake and all!

Jess- NOT FAKE! But have no fear they are good snakes. Bull snakes. They keep bad boys away like rattlers. I think of them as our yard protectors. I think we saw 3 in one day because our yard was like a jungle, we started tearing it up and probably forced these guys to go find another hiding place. But they are nice, I know because I stepped right beside one and the snake was docile and friendly:)

I like to visit this kind of places. Only a few places are being preserved this days.

Home improvements offer many benefits, they not only make your home more comfortable, but can also be a prudent investment. Home improvement can be more than just a weekend hobby; it can also increase your home's value.
