I'm the modern day house wife. I have no children and no husband, but I do have a really fat cat (not her fault or mine) a wonderful, supportive PNC (partner n crime), lots of fabric, a sewing machine, paints and a computer to keep me really busy. I love to create, garden, lay in the sun (for hours), and I make lattes every morning. In the future, I'd love to have some kiddos to play with my fat cat, I'd love to live in the sunshine and I'd love to make a great living off of being creative. Not too much to ask right?! Winery, Rodeo, Fishing, Driving, all in one weekend.

Do I have a weekend get away for you!
This past weekend Casey and I went to Lake Entiat....again! What can I say, the weather is perfect, the boating and relaxing is a must and the company couldn't be better. Thanks to my Dad we have a great place to stay right on the river. I'm not sure if my Dad likes us as consistent house guests but when you live in paradise, your daughter will come! There are some great camping spots too. One is the Beebe Bridge Campground.

On Friday night we headed into Chelan which is only a few miles away to find a place to eat. We wanted some good food, thats all we were looking for. Every restaurant was packed in town so we decided to head out a ways and maybe, just maybe we'd discover a new place to enjoy. Just a few miles out of town we came across a lot of cars parked at the Lake Chelan Winery. We pulled in to see why there were so many cars, then we saw the sign that said BBQ, ribs and salmon. That was exactly what  we were looking for. It was great. There was a band playing classic rock and kids rolling down the grassy hills. We were sat right away and served big hunks of corn bread. Won my heart already! We enjoyed a great meal and at a great price. I highly reccommend this spot to you if you are in Chelan.

After dinner we went to the Chelan Rodeo. It was a small town rodeo but fun to watch. The bulls stole the show. I felt for one cowboy who was knocked out by a bull he was riding. I think he is okay now.

The rest of the weekend we went boating with my Dad, fished, and had some killer fresh fruit milk shakes from  Lone Pine Fruit and Espresso. They were featured in this months Rachel Ray for their famous pies too!

On the way home we took the North Cascades route through Winthrop which was quite a bit longer to get home but worth the amazing scenery. This is the most beautiful trek through Washington I'm sure. Lots of trail heads along the highway if you get up early enough you could hit one on the way home.

All in all it was a great weekend in Eastern Washington, right in our own back yard.

The baby bags are done!

I delivered the baby bags to Bellingham Baby Company last week and they are already on display. Please, if you are in the area check them out! The medium baby bags are $69.00 and the large baby bags are $95.00. They are fully lined with lots of pockets, all handmade out of recycled denim jeans and I've used fabric remnants for the punches of color. If you are interested in purchasing one I would suggest contacting them. I do not have any available at the moment. They are also fully stocked with adorable onesies for girls and onesies for boys made out of old flannel shirts. The handy and popular binkie bibs are also there.

Let me know how you like the bags. I would love your comments!

Diaper bags on the way!

Today I am working on the most adorable diaper bags. They can also be used as a handbag too. I am making them for Bellingham Baby Company. They opened their doors three months ago in Barkley Village. They have a wide range of baby items to fit many baby personalities. I love this store! Watch out for the progress on these baby handbags on my blog. I should have them completed by Wednesday.

The photos shown here are of ones I am working on. I am loving the color combos! Let me know what you think.

What is Local?

Since I've moved to Ferndale I have been searching for what is local. Meaning what can I buy that will support my community? I have grown more sensitive to it lately because of the media pushing us to "Go Green" but most recently since starting my business I have felt like supporting other people doing the same thing.

I had to find a great gift for my Aunt Patti who helped me at the Children's Ride, so last week I took my Aunt Jo, and Cousin Reid to the Red Barn Lavender  farm. They are located right  here in Ferndale at 3106 Thornton Road. I had heard about the farm from the Ferndale Farmers Market and knew that would be the perfect gift.

When we arrived we were  warmly greeted and shown around the Lavender farm by owner Lynn. I never knew there were so many varieties. The farm has over 3600 plants and soooo many types of all shapes, sizes and colors. They have plants you can take home and plant in your own garden available in two sizes and are very reasonable in price. Starting in late June, so right about now the plants are available for cutting. Perfect to take home for flower vases or crafts.

I found the perfect plant for my aunt that she will be able to plant in her yard and enjoy everyday. I was so happy to make the trip and it was something new for my cousin to see and my other Aunt here from Arizona.

For hours of operations and directions click HERE. You can also find them at the Bellingham Farmers Market, and at our local Ferndale Farmers Market on Saturdays.

For more on buying local click HERE.

Thank you Red Barn Lavender for the tour. I know we'll be back to buy more gifts!

Binkie Bibs!

Over the weekend I set up shop at the Children's Ride Concert at White River Ampa Theater. It was a great time in the 90 degree Seattle weather. The Children's Ride is a bennefit for uncompinsated care for Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. I have been involved with the Ride for 4 years now. Last year I participated with the patient art for the annual auction. This year I was a vendor at the concert and tried to sell my bags and baby items. I didn't sell too much but it was a good time anyways and I had the opportunity to hand my business card out.

I was so suprised how much people loved the Baby Binkie Bibs! So I decided I better put them on my Etsy shop today! They are great for a bib/binkie holder so they can drool all over and never loose thier binkie!

I have 6 different styles, some girly, some boyish and some that could pass for either! Check them out on my shop.

Here is Avery wearing her Baby Binkie Bib. To view more binkie bibs click HERE.

Personalized Overnight Bag

This idea was brought to me by my cousin Heidi. She has a little girl Sophia Marie who is also my God Child. For Sophia, Heidi requested an oversized bag for when she goes to stay at other houses. I thought what a great idea! This bag is big enough to handle Sophia's pillow, favorite blankie, toys, clothes and more. It is the perfect size for mommy to carry.

I am now selling these Custom Overnight Bags on my ETSY shop. So please check it out! Great gift for the baby or toddler in your life and I will personalize the bag with their name. Since I use recycled denim jeans and fabric remnants not all bags look alike. Please specify colors, gender, and their name and I will create your very own personalized, custom creation.

My weekend was great. I got to go down to Seattle for Sophia's Party and see my family. It was so good to see everyone. I have only been back twice now in 5 months. I guess that shows how much I like it here. But I do miss everyone. Here is Sophia herself with her Mickey Mouse Birthday Cake. Happy Birthday Soph! Click HERE for more photos from the party.

Cat Fish Hunter.

Have you ever seen "Grumpy Old Men?" This reminded me of the movie when they were trying to catch "Cat Fish Hunter". I think Casey and I found our own "Cat Fish Hunter" and we caught him!

To our surprise it was really nice over here on the west side when we got home last night from our mini trip to Eastern Washington. We didn't feel like settling in for the night so we grabbed our poles and went out to do what we do best and love, fish! Casey caught the biggest fish we've seen in awhile. We had been fishing the spot for only a few minutes and Casey saw the big boy in the water just hanging out. I saw him too. After one cast out he put it right in front of her face and BAM WAM THANK YOU MAM! He caught the big boy!

Here we are fishing and Cat Fish Hunter. We set her free. Hopefully she'll continue to grow and produce more.
