Fall, apple pie, spiced cider, hunting for the perfect pumpkin, layering BOHO style. I miss summer already but as long as it doesn't rain everyday, I'll be fine. A little over a year ago I made the move from Seattle to small town Ferndale, WA. My back ground is graphic design & tableware design. With recent changes in my lifestyle, the situation to create and work from home is suiting me just fine! I love to garden, sew, and cook. I'm the modern house wife without child or ring! But hey, I love my life! Have fun browsing around and hope to hear from you.

Time to re-charge.

Its that time of year when bugs are flying everywhere. I'm talking about those bacteria, virus, bugs. I'm talking about that H1N1 thing that has suddenly turned into a national emergency. At first I thought the media was blowing the swine flu out of proportion. But now I'm thinking, is this something we should be seriously worried about? When I told my Dr. I was sceptical of getting the vaccine, he looked at me like he was embedding the words into my brain, "YOU HAVE TO GET THIS SHOT, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY." Okay, okay, when can I line up! But since there is a shortage of vaccines, and our local clinics have been canceled I guess I'll have to wait like most people. I think pumping my body with the essential vitamins will help. I always juice, and today I had to share the latest recipe I've been trying out. Its actually very delicious despite the swampy color! Quick tip, leave the skins on for extra vitamins and the hint of lime is very refreshing! For one glass, divide the recipe in half.

On the juice.

A few weeks ago after hanging out with a gal I met, Yvonne, I decided I needed to take life into my own hands. She inspired me to try a new approach to my health. She became an avid juicer and raw foods eater after a cancer diagnoses over a year ago. It was her decision to say no to the traditional chemo-therapy because it is her belief that we have what we need to heal and cure our bodies from the earth. After a year on her strict diet, her cancer is disappearing. She looks and feels healthy. She did not know I am on a treatment of chemo-therapy, so we had the conversation. And, now I feel comfortable to share with you! I'm on a low treatment dose every week, preventing any symptoms of a disease I have called Churg-Strauss Syndrome. Never heard of it? It is a very rare vasculitis disease. Not sure what that means, go HERE, for good info. This treatment and other drugs I'm on, although well tolerated is something I would love to be free of. Now, its my turn to try things another way. I've been under Drs care for almost 8 years now. Its time I start looking to the earth as well. I have the garden for it

Here I start, the process to get my body back into check Hopefully all of these veggies will give me the fuel I need to fight, fight, fight this thing to its death, not mine.

My first juice consisted of carrots, an apple, kale, swill chard, zucchini and red cabbage. It was actually really good! I made enough to last me the day. I will be taking an 8oz glass 6 times a day. Yvonne said if you are healthy you do not need that much, but since I am taking all the meds its important to drink a lot.

Aren't these colors beautiful, and I get to drink them!

Its not the chilled beer with a lime I've been craving since I started the therapy, but hey, I'll deal with this cocktail.

If anyone out there is using juicing for their health as well, send on the good recipes!

Cheers to good health!
